Tess Hirst releases new single 'Magic' inspired by the women around her and upbringing in West London, available digitally on 28th November 2023 via Jazz re:freshed.
Since releasing her joint LP 'These Days' with long-time collaborator Daniel Casimir on the jazz re:freshed imprint in 2019, Tess has been working on her first solo album. Funded by PRS Women Make Music and the MOBO/Help Musicians Fund, Tess' new music is also set to be a jazz re:freshed family affair. 'Magic' features Richard Spaven on drums, Sarah Tandy on piano and Tomorrow's Warriors String Ensemble String Ting. It is produced and arranged by Daniel Casimir who also plays electric, upright and synth bass on the record.
A celebration of the women around her, this new track is part of a larger body of work tipped for release in early 2024. As well as honouring the women around her Tess draws on her upbringing in West London as an important sonic influence. Drawing on the UK's longstanding history in these genres, fans of old skool DnB, Hip Hop, broken beat will be right at home. 'Magic' draws on the longstanding history of DnB in the UK featuring live drums from iconic drummer, Richard Spaven.
