'Trapped Soul' follows on from INSXGHT's self-released single Lofi Hip Hop, D'Angelo inspired 'We Are Still Here' released earlier this year, and is a reflexive song inspired by feeling constricted by our circumstances and placing limitations on oneself, affected by the actions of others, caught in an endless cycle of powerlessness.

The track was co-written at the end of 2020 with INSXGHT's friend and collaborator APT as the result of deep conversations contemplating their lives reflected through the pulsating drum beat and cyclical chord arrangements. Ethereal melodies expressed through the trumpet and dreamy dulcet tones of INSXGHT's intricate and commanding playing, create a pensive atmosphere that inspires listeners, as he shares: "Nothing is set in stone, and as long as you have breath you have a chance to change your situations. That's my ethos in life, hence why it was important to start with this."

'Trapped Soul' is taken from a larger body of work, a live show set for release on Jazz re:freshed label in May 2024.
