Jazz re:freshed are pleased to announce highly anticipated new music by Poppy Daniels, one of the UK's most sought-after trumpet players, set to release her debut self-produced EP,'Keep on Going'on April 11th 2025. The title is inspired by a phrase used by Poppy's family and close friends throughout her life: "Keep on going." A powerful reminder that even in challenging times, there is always the hope that things will improve. This theme of perseverance and renewal is the backbone of the project, reflecting Poppy's own journey. The first track'Boundaries'is inspired by not only her journey with personal relationships, but a moment of self-reflection and acceptance, acknowledging the challenge and empowerment of setting boundaries, a process that has been integral to her emotional and professional growth.'Boundaries'is available across all digital streaming platforms on Wednesday 12th March 2025.
The EP was co-written with bassist Alley Lloyd (Colectiva, Fleur East, Poppy Ajudha, Yazmin Lacey) with significant contribution by her incredible band: Eddie Lee, who co-wroteKeep on Going. James Akers and Allexa Nava also feature on various tracks throughout the EP. Composed towards the end of 2022 and capturing a moment in time when Poppy was navigating significant life changes, each track is a reflection of a key event or turning point in Poppy's life during 2022 and 2023, with the music written in real-time as events unfolded. The songs are named after pivotal moments, with each title drawing from specific words, times, or experiences that triggered powerful emotions in her, such as shifts in personal relationships, life-altering accidents, and professional challenges.
After being forced to take a step back from the music industry following a bike accident, Poppy took time to focus on healing and self-reflection. During this period, she worked on finding balance in her personal life and exploring how she could return to music in a healthier, more sustainable way. As a result,'Keep on Going'touches on a wide range of emotions—from moments of solitude to the joy of reconnecting with others, from the pursuit of hope to the eventual embrace of happiness."I wrote this EP while living through these experiences, and that's what makes it so personal to me,"says Poppy."The process wasn't just about looking back, but about being fully immersed in those emotions in the moment. It was a reminder that no matter what's happening, I had to keep moving forward. The final track, 'Feeling Better', is a culmination of that journey—it's a reminder that despite the hurdles, there is always light at the end."

She has performed at prestigious venues around the world, earning a reputation as a dynamic and versatile musician. However, with'Keep on Going',Poppy steps into the spotlight as an artist in her own right, blending her London roots with influences from jazz, Latin, and hip-hop to create a rich and vibrant sonic landscape This body of work marks an exciting new chapter in Poppy's career and is a heartfelt exploration of resilience, personal growth, and the unwavering belief that no matter the obstacles, things can and will get better.
